Hollowware and cutlery
keeping up with the times
AS the world of dining changes, so too
must hollowware and cutlery.
The latest range of hollowware intro-
duced by Rosenthal reflects current din-
ing trends. Its Junto collection is a mix
and match of porcelain and stoneware
of muted colours, non-uniform shapes
and sizes, showing an informal yet robust
look.
“The specific characteristic of Junto is
what you may say are ‘organic’ shapes —
irregular and non-symmetrical. What’s laid
out on the table may include pieces of dif-
ferent sizes, thickness and heaviness,” says
Paolo Bersan, export area manager, hotel
and restaurant division of Arcturus Group.
The group has brands such as Rosenthal
and Sambonet.
Bersan says the Junto collection reflects
the new trends in dining and hospitality.
People dine in less formal settings today
and food sharing is more common. The
Junto plates and bowls allow dishes to be
served in different size portions. The flex-
ibility is good for specialty restaurants and
especially suited for Asian cuisines.
“We expect the Junto collection to be
very appealing in this part of the world.”
For cutlery, the renowned brand Sam-
bonet is showcasing fresh and bold col-
lections of spoons, forks and knives with
iconic shapes and a variety of finishing in
copper, gold, champagne and black. These
are designed and finely made in Italy.
“Our clientele are the top-end hotels,
four-star and above, including luxury ho-
tels. And Asia is one of our main market
regions where we will place heavy empha-
sis,” says Bersan.
“In the past few years and going for-
ward, we are seeing a growing number
of hotel projects across the region. With
clients becoming more desirous of quality,
we are anticipating business growth.
“It is advantageous for us to be at FHA
because from this central location we
can reach out to clientele in a big region
including India, Maldives, and the Gulf
countries.
“FHA gives us the opportunity to re-
inforce contacts with local and regional
partners. It is very important to have con-
tact with owners of new hotels and keep
up the conversations.”
