Pacific Valley sets itself
apart from the rest
“AT Pacific Valley, we set our-
selves apart from the rest. We
don’t just supply quality prod-
ucts, we create them,” says Steve
Cooley, vice-president – sales
of the Washington-based Pacific
Valley Foods (booth 7C2-08), a
company launched in 1975 by a
husband-and-wife team desirous
of making a name for themselves
in the food processing business.
“Our vegetables are processed
and frozen within two hours of har-
vest from the fields, thus locking in
important nutrients and flavours,”
says Graham T Lacerte, director of
business development.
“The result? A Pacific Valley
vegetable is often fresher than the
produce on your market shelves.”
The company’s frozen prod-
ucts range is almost endless and
includes frozen vegetables and
fruits, fruit juice concentrates,
meat, poultry and seafood prod-
ucts, breaded onion rings and
mozzarella sticks, potato products,
waffles, tortillas and bagels.
In the lengthy list of dry prod-
ucts being marketed by the com-
pany are dried peas, beans and
lentils, dehydrated potato prod-
ucts, chocolates, pudding, toaster
pastries, bulk unpopped popcorn
kernels, almond butter, dried and
canned fruit, beer and spirits.
At FHA2018, the company is
trying to introduce frozen avocado,
which is immensely popular in the
Americas. Both Cooley and Lac-
erte realise that the job will be far
from easy, and that it will take a lot
of work educating the public about
the virtues of the rather bland tast-
ing green fruit.
“Japan and South Korea al-
ready import a lot of avocado
products, so it is really the South-

East Asian market that we need
to look at more closely,” says
Lacerte. “There is polite interest,
but they are not yet sure whether
they would be interested in placing
a firm order!”
LaCimbali S20 communicates via Wi-Fi
WHY settle for less, when you can have
more? Gruppo Cimbali is introducing the
LaCimbali S20 super automatic coffee
machine.
In its Power Station mode, the S20 can
supply milk-based beverages from two ad-
jacent machines, using only one fridge and
thus optimising the workspace.
Discover the LaCimbali S20 super automatic
coffee machine, or you can ask Renato Izzolino,
export area manager of Gruppo Cimbali, for more
details.
S20 Power Station allows users to maxi-
mise performance for optimal management.
Each adjacent machine can produce around
200 cups a day, says Renato Izzolino, export
area manager.
The S20, and all of LaCimbali’s auto mated
machines, are integrated with Telemetry, a
technology that enables data communication
and remote monitoring of all the machine’s
functions and performance via a Wi-Fi link.
The data, which are sent by the machine
to a Web platform, can be used for statistical

consumption analysis of, for example, the
number of drinks dispensed.
Telemetry also allows the machine to be
monitored constantly, as it provides a real-
time snapshot of all the machine’s parts and
communicates any errors or malfunctions
directly to the technician.
The bi-directionality feature within Tele-
metry also allows operators of the S20 to
access the machine remotely via the Web and
modify, for example, dispensing parameters.
