C. Watson Fashion FAshion Design What made me choose this particular career path? My first very job was working for a textile company, making soft furnishings. Some of our main clients where companies i.e. Liberty, Reminant Kings and Mandors. I was very fortunate to be able to work with these amazing luxurious materials. One day I thought it was such as waste to have all these beautiful fabrics hanging from windows when they could be made into something more extravagant for the world to see. From that point onwards, I knew that my heart was yearning to follow the fashion route. What advice could I give to others starting out in the industry? The best advice I could give to anyone is to work hard, do as much as you can to promote yourself, surround yourself with like minded people, and do as much as you can to build up your portfolio and brand. Having a mentor is greatly beneficial. This could be anyone, a best friend, a relative, someone that you can turn to anytime. Because it’s a very long hard road and there will be a lot times were you will feel dishearten. You will come across many obstacles and distractions on your journey, so the most important advice I can give is, to never give up on your dream, to make an impact on the fashion world, and also go with your own intuition.
