FF Magazine Scotland Issue 1 - Launch | Page 2

The idea for FF Magazine Scotland. It came from months of networking with some amazing people I met on my first photographic assignment in Edinburgh. I moved to the new city Feb 2015, just at the start of what was a piece of Edinburgh’s Fashion history in the making, Edinburgh Fashion Week. Collaborating with This Is Edinburgh, I had the opportunity to help capture images of a city, all working together, to display the city’s fashion industry for the first time ever at such a great scale. I first conjured up the plan over a coffee and a tea. Then after a couple of weeks of “it” stirring in my never resting brain; I confirmed this “Idea” over something a bit stronger than a coffee with the same person, now dear friend. This was, in fact, what I definitely wanted to do. Use my skills to help others show off their skills and introduce them to their community to allow them to network. So, how did it work? The individuals featured came along to my special photoshoots, each bringing their own skill to showcase, that I could capture on camera. Photographing and interviewing everyone myself gave me the opportunity to really get to know each person better. This couldn’t be achieved by submissions or emails. Working like this has made this magazine have a unique, special and personal touch. I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing talents based in and around Edinburgh. Now after 4 months…. or so! The idea is now a reality. I am so grateful for the kind words I have received from everyone involved and the way the community have welcomed me with opened arms. I have discovered new brands, explored great venues, tried new foods. Enjoyed first time experiences and most of all have made some fantastic connections. I hope you will use this E-Magazine as a medium to network with the wealth of talent, resources, and available support and interest in the area. I hope you enjoy this first image filled issue as much as I have enjoyed putting it together for Scotland ( and beyond) to see. Yemi King - Editor
