Play with sheer details. Sheer doesn’t have to mean revealing. Done thoughtfully, it can be incredibly sophisticated. Try a sheer blouse layered over a camisole, a transparent sleeve beneath a tailored jacket, or a skirt with a subtle sheer panel. Layering is your best friend here. The result should feel intriguing rather than exposed.
Bring on the leather. Leather is one of those magical materials that can instantly sharpen an outfit. This season, go beyond the expected leather jacket. Try a leather midi skirt, tailored trousers, vest, shirt or even a pair of leather gloves. For a softer interpretation, look for supple leather in chocolate brown, burgundy or caramel rather than classic black. Mixing leather with cozy knits creates that perfect high-low contrast.
Turn up the color. While autumn may traditionally send us reaching for camel, gray and black, there’s no reason your wardrobe has to whisper.
