New York native in
the 1970’s, welcomed me back with open arms. Aside from exploring the city and touring several unique neighborhoods, I attended the Toronto International Film Festival, or TIFF which celebrated its 50th year. As the city has changed tremendously over this time, so too has the festival. This year, with nearly 300 films, both features and shorts, and approximately 50 countries represented, TIFF buzzed with unprecedented energy as it took over more than 3 city blocks.
TIFF brings more than 700,000 visitors to the city each year and while they can't all get tickets to see films, Toronto provides one hundred percent unparalleled cultural and culinary experiences. No matter which part of the city you stay in, you will not only be entertained during the festival, but at any time after. There are approximately 160 official neighborhoods, each offering their own opportunities and personalities. These hoods allow you to sample delectable delights, listen to any type of music, gaze upon original art, and drink under the city skyline with the deep blue Lake Ontario as a backdrop.
