The Story Behind Chickfly

Raised off-the-grid in Mendocino County, Anna Birkás grew up with a deep connection to nature and a commitment to sustainability. As a professional scientist often working in remote, male-dominated environments, she experienced firsthand the challenges women face with bathroom access in the field. This inspired her to create Chickfly pants – a product that combines her expertise in ecology and engineering with a passion for gender equality.

Unlike traditional pants with zippers or buttons, Chickfly’s patented design features a seamless fly that can be easily pulled apart and snaps back into place, providing a flattering fit. Whether hiking, climbing, skiing or just enjoying the great outdoors, Chickfly pants offer the freedom to go when and where you need to – without exposing yourself or removing layers.

A Solution for All Genders and Abilities

Chickfly is more than just a women’s product. It’s an inclusive solution that benefits people of all genders and abilities. From trans men to people with disabilities who need to use medical devices, Chickfly pants provide an accessible and dignified way to handle personal needs.

In keeping with Anna’s commitment to sustainability, Chickfly pants are made from eco-friendly materials like bamboo and merino wool. The pants are also proudly manufactured in the USA, supporting local economies and ensuring the highest quality standards.

Since its launch in 2021, Chickfly has sold over 2,200 units and earned nearly $275,000 in revenue. With a growing customer base and a mission to level the bathroom access playing field, Chickfly is poised to become a staple in outdoor and functional fashion.

Anna says, “As an outdoor enthusiast and field scientist, I felt the disparity of bathroom access between men and women. It was a barrier for me working professionally as a hydrologist on crews of men. I invented and patented a fly design that allows women to pee discreetly without taking their pants down.”
