SWEATSHIRT SEASON
BY LAURETTE RONDENET
his month’s topic
around fashion
has me thinking
about sweatshirt season. On any given Sunday,
you will find me in either a Bears
sweatshirt or a jersey of one of my favorite players (shout out to Desmond Clark and the signed jersey I have from him!). And on every Friday night I will be sporting a St. Charles North Stars sweatshirt, preferably with one of my two children currently playing and their number proudly displayed on my back. For the last 15 years, my fall Friday nights have been happily consumed by high school football. Rain or shine. My work travel schedule revolves around being home Friday nights, no matter what. It is an intense 10 weeks. I know from experience that it passes in the blink of an eye. Savoring the highs, the lows and rehashing the game with the boys before the team descends on our house to further rehash and devour any food in sight while they watch tape of the entire game, together. I make ice bags for injuries. I make space for the camaraderie. It warms my heart.
