Fete Lifestyle Magazine September 2018 - Fall, Fashion & Trends | Page 5

A couple of days ago, I received a text from a friend in Chicago saying, "Fall is in a hurry this year." To some, that means the end of a short but glorious summer. To others around the world, it means summer is just a few short months away.

In places like New York City, Milan and Paris, fall is all about fashion. All eyes are on the fashion capitals as they produce the trends that will trickle down to all parts of the world. Once again, I find myself in a climate where there isn't the normal summer or winter or fall, just rainy or dry. And instead of wondering what kind of boots I will be in, or the upcoming year's hot new colors, I have the good fortune to be immersed in a world where all around me women and men are considering not what clothes will make them feel cool, but what practices they can instill in their lives to ensure how they look on the outside matters less than how they feel on the inside. I am talking about the growing trend of self-discovery found through yoga and meditation retreats.

At times the pressure of being "in fashion" actually leads to unbearable stress. Taking even a short break from those pressures can be magical and healing and that is exactly what I am witnessing at El Sabanero Eco Lodge.

Reducing stress is one the hottest trends in developing countries today. As a result, "wellness" has become a billion dollar industry. So, whether you opt to get away on a yoga retreat to Costa Rica like me or a silent meditation retreat in Nepal like others or even something as simple as gifting yourself with a massage, taking a time out is now an acceptable part of adulthood.

We hope you enjoy this month's issue and rather than tell you about it, I will let you discover the pages on your own, while I get back to feeling relaxed and stress free. Namaste!
