Why not try your closest state park or embark on a road trip visiting as many national parks as you can? The state and national parks and forests of Texas, Colorado, and Montana have been so inspiring that my future plans certainly include backpacking in new places to see more of this vastly gorgeous land we live in.
If you have kids, or even access to kids, why not let them help with the planning? Actually, it is a valuable lesson in and of itself to guide children through the process of learning something new. Check out a great article from Parents.com for planning guides to get you and your kids OUTSIDE!
And if you’re lucky enough to be the proud parent of a 4th grader, your whole family can go for FREE to hundreds of parks, lakes and recreation areas to camp, learn about the woods and even discover protected animals. The program is called “Every Kid In a Park and allows families to “See America’s natural wonders and historic sites for free.” for a whole year. https://www.everykidinapark.gov/ Another awesome link promoting an upcoming wellness initiative geared towards families this month is http://www.nps.gov/findapark/hike.htm.
I hope to see you out there!
