Approximately 70 guests gathered at Ferrari in Lake Forest, IL for SHIFT, an evening created to change the way domestic violence is viewed and discussed in affluent communities. The event proceeds and message brought awareness to a new pilot program: WINGS Community Outreach Program, including the North Shore Outreach Initiative. This new program will provide specialized services for survivors of domestic violence in the North Shore area.
SHIFT special guest Taylor Armstrong, an original cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and domestic violence survivor and advocate, shared her personal experience and spoke about the importance of breaking the
silence surrounding abuse.
The evening brought together community members, business leaders and supporters—many of whom were being introduced to WINGS for the first time—to lean into a conversation about an issue that too often remains hidden behind the appearance of success and financial security
“SHIFT was created to bring people into a conversation that
isn’t always easy to have,” said Tracey Mayer, WINGS Development Consultant and creator of SHIFT. “To look around that room and see so many people choosing to show up, listen and lean into this issue was incredibly powerful. Lasting change begins when people are willing to talk about what too often remains hidden and become catalysts for change in their own communities.”
