3. Know Your Materials

Fabric choice plays a huge role in a garment’s environmental footprint. Look for natural fibers such as organic cotton, linen, hemp, silk, or wool which are biodegradable and generally less harmful to produce. When choosing synthetics, opt for recycled materials like recycled polyester or nylon, which repurpose existing plastics rather than creating new ones.

Avoid “greenwashing” by checking for credible certifications such as GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) or OEKO-TEX, which ensure textiles are produced with environmental and human safety in mind. Investing in high-quality fabrics means your clothes will look better and last longer, saving money (and resources) in the long run.

Not to mention saving space in landfills in the long run.
