The saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” couldn’t be truer. What one person sees as the ideal, whether it’s a place, a person, or even a path, might not hold the same appeal for someone else. I’ve been reminded of that lately as my family and I dive deep into the college search process for my senior.
Although we’re mostly on the same page on the schools he likes best, what I love most is hearing why. Listening to him share what he’s looking for — beyond just strong academics or a specific major — gives me insight into how he’s thinking, dreaming, and defining what his next chapter might look like. It’s been very interesting and enlightening to say to the least.
Recently, we had one of those classic parent-teenager moments — a little back and forth over a school that ranks high on his list but not so high on mine. We’re essentially looking through the same lens but seeing two different pictures. And honestly, there’s beauty in that. It’s a learning and listening process for both of us. I admire his willingness to step outside his comfort zone, to consider something unfamiliar, and to trust his instincts. That kind of boldness deserves respect.
I see that same spirit in so many entrepreneurs, creators, and dreamers I meet — people with bold ideas and an even bolder drive to bring them to life. The bigger the challenge, the bigger the reward… and I’m here for it.
This month’s Fete Lifestyle Magazine theme, Bold & Beautiful, celebrates that very essence. Our cover story on Gudrun Wu Snyder captures it perfectly. A mother, entrepreneur, and two-time breast cancer survivor, Gudrun’s journey embodies strength, grace, and resilience. Her story is one you don’t want to miss, especially as we honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Our contributors truly outdid themselves this issue, bringing stories that will inspire, uplift, and connect with you on so many lifestyle levels. So take a moment to indulge, enjoy, and share.
Here’s to being bold, embracing beauty in all its forms, and stepping bravely into whatever comes next.
Happy October!
