You transitioned from being an attorney to focusing on fashion. Describe the steps you took to follow your passion.
While I was still an attorney, I dipped my foot in whatever “fashion” I could in Chicago. About 20 years ago, I did fashion segments on CBS mornings, and I also had a monthly fashion column in a magazine. I also developed a retail and apparel legal practice where I represented clients like Hudson jeans and James jeans (this was early 2000s). I quickly figured out that, to be in fashion, I would have to create it myself. I explored opening my own store a few times but finally did it in 2012 with VMR.
