and the rest is history. In 2021 they opened their own distillery to house all of the barrels and now conduct tours, tastings, and soon to host concerts in a new outdoor venue being built directly behind the distillery.
As a food connoisseur, my favorite thing to do in any city is to find good restaurants, whether they’re an upscale hot spot or a low-key mom-and-pop dive. As you can imagine, Nashville has an incredible food scene and locals love their Meat-and-Three and Hot Chicken. Meat-and-Three features a choice of one meat (beef, chicken, pork, fried fish) and three sides or vegetables. One of the best restaurants in the city to enjoy this popular menu item is Edley’s BBQ.
Nashville “hot chicken” is exactly how it sounds; hot, spicy, fried chicken that is prepared with a few different “heat” options. Arguably the most popular fast casual hot chicken place in Nashville is Hattie B’s where they have 6 different heat levels ranging from Southern (no heat) to Shut the Cluck Up!!! (burn notice). I stuck with their Mild (touch of heat) option because, well, I like to enjoy my meal without my mouth being on fire. Not only was Hattie B’s hot chicken tender, tasty, and delicious, but the vibe inside was right up my alley with a mix of new and old school hip hop being played in the background. The line was out the door when we arrived and left, so I was convinced that this was the best choice to experience Nashville’s hot chicken.
You can’t make a trip to the South without indulging southern cuisine and The Farm House is a local family-owned restaurant that focuses on great southern food, tasty cocktails, and locally sourced ingredients with service to create a memorable dining experience.
Probably my favorite upscale dining experience during my trip was a sneak peek and an exclusive tasting at Mimo located in Nashville’s brand new and soon to open Four Seasons. Executive Chef Aniello "Nello" Turco wowed us with his elevated Southern Italian dishes fused with local Southern influences. Chef Turco has a Michelin-starred background having worked at outposts such as Noma in Copenhagen and Mio in Beijing. Nashville locals should be very excited for the opening of this new restaurant.
