Living in the third largest city in America has its benefits when it comes to access. Chicago arguably is the best city in the world when it comes to the number of amazing places to dine, sites to see, and things to do. Probably the most common question that I’m asked and the most difficult question to answer when people visit is “What is your favorite restaurant?” It’s so hard to just pick one when I have a plethora of options, plus the differences in cuisines, ambiance, and experiences are hard to compare. There are restaurants that I frequent based on what my mood is at the time. When I want amazing modern Indian cuisine, I head to my favorite Indian restaurant ROOH. I’m a huge brunch person so if I’m feeling like a great selection of sweet and savory dishes then Bongo Room is at top of the list. For Greek food my choice is Avli and for authentic Italian cuisine there is no place better than Prosecco. That’s why when I’m headed out to a different city, I try to be a little more specific with my questions to my friends and family such as, where can I find the best authentic Mexican? Or what is your favorite Caribbean joint?

This month we celebrate “the best of” people, places, and things. We spotlight a documentary about an iconic Chicago chef and introduce a new movie that everyone should see which draws attention to the true story of a tragedy that took place a few years ago between a former black Marine and police officers. We’re getting closer to turning the page on another year, as our contributors continue to impress and inspire with useful tips to improve your lifestyle. Enjoy and thanks for reading.
