The last few weeks, social media and mainstream media have begun a conversation. One that is difficult and one that will make many people uncomfortable for a long time. But this conversation has been patiently waiting as Americans who were comfortable, were being dishonest with themselves. The time has come. And as a country, it is time to commit to ending color blindness, and to be “color brave,” as Mellody Hobson put it. It is time that policy discussions accompany personal discussions around education, health care and the justice system about real transformation for future generations. As patriots of a great nation, we owe our future generations a country that they can be proud of, and a history that has shown evolution and growth.
