Want to escape from all the political mayhem? Well, you’re in luck because the 52nd Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF) is the perfect way to distract yourself from it all. The festival programmers previewed over 4600 films to find just the right movies to pique your cinematic interest. Featuring more than 125 full-length feature films and 47 shorts from all over the world, you’re sure to find a film to divert your attention away from the looming election day.
How about a musical? They’re making a comeback and CIFF will be showcasing 11 of them including the opening night film, “La La Land,” starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. If you’re not the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers type, don’t worry. I’ve got an extraordinary list of films to recommend. From documentaries and LGBQT (Out-Look) films to horror (After Dark) and if you live in Chicago, local gems (City & State), here are the anticipated highlights of this year’s fest!
