Out of control. That’s how I felt. To the outside world, I seemed happy and fun-loving. And truth be told, I did have a good life. A foundation of faith in God, a family that loved me, and a life of adventure. It was 2004 and I was living my dream working as a fitness director for a cruise ship. The thing that took me by surprise was the sadness and loneliness. I turned to food for comfort. As the pounds on the scale went up, my confidence went down. I was disappointed with myself on so many levels. I was uncomfortable in my skin, avoided scales, and sometimes even broke down crying when I saw how my body was changing.
