o you ever find
yourself
overscheduling,
overpromising, and ultimately overwhelmed? If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. I’ve always seen myself as someone who LOVES to help. Maybe it’s a personality trait, or maybe it’s something shaped by my upbringing or internal values - but the helper instinct runs deep and strong in me. While that instinct is a beautiful thing, it can lead me to stretch myself too thin, putting others first while leaving little room for my own personal growth. The big question is, how can I honor this instinct while still showing up for myself and my own personal growth journey?
Where to Start
I’ve found that organizing my habits and intentions helps me feel grounded. I love using whiteboards, habit trackers and colorful markers (seriously - colored markers make everything better).
Here’s what I have learned through trial and error:

How many times have I looked back at a month thinking, where did the time go? Now I can see all the things I accomplished, thanks to this pretty tracker.
Start Fresh
Trying something new can feel energizing - or humbling. But even when things do not go as planned, there’s still value in the process.
Maybe that new habit you tried didn’t stick, or it was harder than you expected. Maybe it triggered an unexpected emotional response. Sometimes the lesson isn’t in mastering the task but in learning more about who you are and what you need.
Sometimes I enjoy the reflection period, asking myself:
What did I learn about myself while trying this?
What felt good? What didn’t?
Could I try again but take a smaller step next time?
Finding balance isn’t about doing everything, it’s about doing the right things for you and who you are right now. It’s a beautiful thing to want to help others, just don’t forget to help yourself as well. When you care for yourself and your own needs, you show up as a stronger and more grounded version of the helper you already are.
