FLM: What are 3 major lessons you learned in life that you constantly pass along to your boys?

BC: Be your authentic self - this is monumental for me. I want my boys to know that they ARE great being themselves and not conforming to what society envisions they should be. I want them to know that there is no one better to be than themselves and there will never be anyone like them…show up and be you!

Be kind to everyone - every morning my partner and I say this to them. This is how we make the world a better place…treat others with respect and dignity - treat others the way you want to be treated.

Wake up, grind, and get better. This isn’t a lesson but more a way of life that I hope to teach my boys. Find something you love and give it your all so much that you wake up, you grind at it, and you get better…and then do it again and again. I like this saying because I tell my boys in times of difficulty that if they work at it enough, they will get better at it…that they can do hard things. So, every morning at drop off and every night before bed, we repeat it. It’s also my reminder that when I work hard at anything, I will get better.

FLM: What 3 personal goals would you like to achieve over the next 5 years and what advice would you give to a younger Bianca?

BC: Three goals for myself - find an opportunity that allows for me to challenge my skill set in possibly a new field; find organizations where I can give back to my community and in 5 years, I want to feel like I am 10 years younger and can keep up with my boys. So being a healthier version of myself that will find her way back to yoga, strength training and mindfulness.

What I would tell a younger Bianca - take up space! Be unapologetically YOU. Do not hold back to make others feel comfortable. Instead stand in your strength and intelligence - you are a queen!
