FLM
Fete Lifestyle Magazine
This might be the most special issue for me year to date. Last year, when I decided that our May 2019 issue would feature amazing women as the theme, I envisioned releasing an issue that would be both encouraging and inspiring. I didn’t imagine that it would be so personal and have such a historical significance. To say that I’m ecstatic to feature Lori Lightfoot, Chicago’s new mayor, on the cover of this month’s issue is an understatement. Lori and I grew up together in Massillon, Ohio and I was beyond proud to watch her rise from anonymity to the highest-ranking official in municipal government in America’s third largest city. Not only is she the first African American female mayor to hold this office in Chicago but is the first openly gay person elected to the position. Her story is truly inspiring, and her accomplishment is historic. With corruption and vitriol overtaking the political climate these days, it’s refreshing to know that someone authentic and compassionate like Mayor Lightfoot is ready to lead Chicago in a different direction. I can’t wait for you to learn about her story.
I also hope that our other stories in this month’s issue resonate with you. We shine a light on moms and women as it relates to their insecurities and vulnerabilities, and we feature a powerful and feel-good story about adoption and finding family through the ancestry process. Our beauty experts will keep you looking glamourous with everyday tips for the woman on the go and our resident photographer wants you to embrace your imperfections.
Thanks to all of the strong women around the world making a difference in the lives of others. I hope you enjoy FLM May!
