“Woman Walks Ahead” is an American Western as you’ve never seen, based on the true story of Catherine Weldon (Jessica Chastain) who travels to the Dakotas in the late 1800’s to paint Sitting Bull’s (Michael Greyeyes) portrait. Her perspective changes as she’s met with opposition from the military, particularly Colonel Groves (Sam Rockwell) and the relationship she develops is the beginning of her fight for the rights of Native Americans.
