The art of applying makeup goes back at least 6000 years across the globe. During the early 1900s, makeup was not popular at all. In fact, women rarely wore makeup. A woman's "makeup routine" consisted of using only paper powder, which was a paper oil blotting sheet, to create a polished look. Cosmetics were so unpopular that they were only available at costume stores. Thankfully, in 1910, Max Factor opened his Makeup Studio in Los Angeles and the rest is history. A makeup artist was born and now had the resources to create a look of self expression and inspiration using a human canvas.

An artist that has a vision, beauty techniques, and tools to deliver the final look can create a wide range of looks… how amazing is that? In present times we can create avant-garde, special effects, high fashion, and theatrical looks or simply enhance natural beauty. To perfect these looks and maintain balance, the key points to keep in mind are: face shape, structure, brow shape, eyes and lips. Artistry has no limitations or boundaries, so let’s try it! Enjoy it and have fun, art is self expression.
