Abstract Expressionism.
Recognized for its emphasis on spontaneous or subconscious creations and non-representational shapes with subjective interpretations. Jackson Pollock is a celebrated example of this era with his unique style of drip painting. When I think of this style of art, I consider some wines as being misrepresented, or as not receiving the justice due them with the variety of forms it may present. I can’t help but recall the controversial grape varietal Riesling. In my experience, it is one of the most misunderstood grapes and often passed over because of a reputation of being cheap sweet wine. Those of us that have explored this gem can assure you, it can be anything but that. Spanning from bone dry to sweet dessert wine in style, these wines show a vast range of flavors and may contain citrus, stone fruit, honey, or even petrol. They can be as light as air or as powerful and age worthy as a big Cabernet. Made all over the world, one can surely find a style they can enjoy if given a chance.
