Located in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, Lacuna is a multi purpose cultural arts center, events venue and shared work space. Studio and office space is available to rent and is the perfect choice for a creative workspace for both artists and creative professionals. Lacuna Events by LM provides full service catering and on-site event management services to Lacuna. Lacuna is the ideal venue for private events (weddings, birthdays, anniversaries etc.) as well as larger scale events (art shows and exhibitions, concerts, food, beer & wine festivals etc.)
Lacuna Events by LM has been in operation since January 2015 however, the space has been available for events prior to that. Lacuna Events by LM is owned by husband and wife team, Nicole and Stephan Outrequin Quaisser. Their combined years of experience in the service industry ensure that any special event is in the hands of true professional. Nicole has many years of experience in the hospitality industry, stretching back to her childhood in Hamburg, Germany, where her parents owned and managed several restaurants. After working with Hilton International properties in London, New York and Guam, she moved to Chicago where she served as The Drake Hotel's Director of Catering and Convention Services and then the General Manger of the prestigious Mid-America Club. Stephan is a third-generation restaurateur and grew up in the traditional brasseries owned by his parents in Normandy, France, where he was born and raised. After completing Hilton International's prestigious fast-track management training program he moved to Chicago, where he began a seven-year stint at The Drake Hotel eventually serving as Director of Banquet Operations.
Built in 1897 as what once was the world’s largest macaroni factory, the 5 story, 250,000 sq. ft. spaced maintains much of the original charm. The building has been carefully restored using as much of the original building materials as possible. Studios, galleries and event spaces are all updated using reclaimed or repurposed materials as well. Also, artwork from talented Chicago artists can be found all over the building. Those booking the space for private events are welcome to use much of this artwork during their events with advance notice. All of these factors create a truly unique venue for both work and play.
Obviously between April and October each year their weekends are pretty booked with weddings but off days are typically filled with different art shows corporate events or concerts. They’ve also hosted the Windy City Brewhaha, an annual beer festival; the Chicago Reader Key Ingredient Cook-Off, a cooking competition and numerous not-for-profit fundraisers. Photographers and TV crews love the space as well and Lacuna has been the backdrop for multiple fashion shows as well as filming site for different TV programs.
Pilsen is a neighborhood on the rise with a very interesting cultural history. Its location, Southwest of the city, provides for some incredible and unique views of the famous Chicago skyline; a perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony or cocktail party.
