Beverly Tomek has been a makeup artist for over twenty years. At the tender age of just eight, her passion for drawing and sketching different face shapes and makeup looks turned into slowly transferring those art designs from paper, to the canvas of women's faces. Beverly’s training led her into freelance artistry, working for such lines as Estée Lauder, Chanel, Calvin Klein, Nars and Mac. She has been mentioned in numerous wedding trade magazines such as Modern Luxury Brides, and Brides Magazine.
It seems everyone is obsessed with big succulent lips these days. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of the pouty lip, but I’m a huge fan of saving your money by forgoing injections and creating the pout naturally!
First, start with a damp, fine bristled toothbrush. Brush your lips in a circular motion to get the blood flowing and to exfoliate dead skin. Lightly pat them dry. Then ten minutes before applying your lipstick, take a dollop of Aquaphor (can be found at any drugstore) and mix a teaspoon of cayenne pepper to make a little paste! Generously apply it to your lips with a Q-tip and let sit for about five minutes. It's important not to go outside your lip line and keep the mixture precisely on the lips. Ok, so yes… It might sting a little, but ladies I guarantee you that it will most likely hurt less than a needle injection. And your wallet will be hurting less too!
After five minutes remove the mixture with a wet washcloth and pat your lips dry. You'll notice your lips will automatically look pinker and a bit puffier! Then use a concealer brush around the lines of your lips. Blend with your finger and pat a bit of Aquaphor (without the cayenne) on the lip to add a little moisture. Now, take a neutral lip liner color, my favorite happens to be Spice by Mac, and hold the pencil on it's side (not tip) for more control. Lightly outline your natural lip and then fill in. The liner will act as a base and will give your lip color more staying power throughout the day. Take your lip brush and paint on your favorite pinkish neutral color. My absolute fave right now is Elizabeta by the late Kevyn Aucoin. Finish off with a highlighting pencil by drawing just around outside of your Cupid's Bow and voila! There you have it, the anti-Kylie Jenner lip plump!
