Describe your thought process or steps you take when creating a piece of art.
When creating a piece, I do research on a theme or idea or feeling I want to convey. As I continue to process and think about the image I want to capture, I’m looking for images that portray this feeling. This may be a chance meeting with a stranger, a tilt in a child’s head, the stance of an elder gentleman, the wind in a long road. I collect source photos from friends, family and other forms of research that inspire me. Once I find the one that speaks to me, it’s on! I currently work primarily in watercolors, however, I’m skilled in the art of oil painting and the foundation of it all for me is drawing.
