Start with a Centerpiece The centerpiece is the focal point of the table. It is often viewed as the initial element of gathering around the table.  Choose a centerpiece that fits the theme of your table. Most centerpieces tend to be a beautiful flower arrangement however, this is also an opportunity to be creative in using some of your home décor accessories such as that beautiful vase, large unique bowl, or even a sculpture. Last year at The Kitchen we hosted an Emily in Paris Party and the centerpiece for that dinner was an Eifel Tower with little white lights surrounded by greenery.

Enhance the centerpiece, by adding a few candles - votive or pillar as well as some greenery such as some smaller potted candles. These little touches when properly spaced out provide a balance to the table centerpiece.

Keep table decorations low, so they don’t block the view of guests. A gorgeous centerpiece becomes a mental distraction when it blocks you from seeing the other table guests. If you opt for tall, my recommendation is something that is see-thru such as a clear glass cylinder with a candle.

TIP - While table decorations provide an opportunity to be creative remember less is more. Don’t over clutter your table with décor to where it needs to be pulled off the table to make room for food or viewing other guests. The idea of the décor is to enhance the dinner experience while having it remain on the table throughout the meal.
