This is the time of year that I start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The light I’m referring to is warmer weather, the end of winter and the beginning of spring, March Madness basketball tourney, spring break, and the start of baseball season. March is also my birthday month, although I’m starting to feel less and less excited about that as the years come and go by so fast, which means I’m just getting old, but I am still thankful to celebrate another trip around the sun, especially since it was a year ago this month that the entire world shut down.
As I think back to how we got through 2020 I reflect on how entertaining ourselves became quite different. Binge watching shows and watching movies on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Disney Plus was an essential part to how my family spent our time. I challenged my two boys to get creative by making up games instead of playing on the Xbox or staring at their computers, and it was amazing to watch their imaginations blossom when watching YouTube or creating a world in Fortnite were not an option. We all were trying to figure it out and when I reflect on the past 12 months, somehow, we did.
I’m really looking forward to this spring and summer. I think that May through August could potentially be some of the most epic months that we will ever spend together, because everyone is eagerly awaiting and ready to get back to doing what they love to do, which is entertaining and being entertained. Restaurants and bars are already opening, concerts and festivals are being scheduled, and summer camps are on the calendar. Even though there is excitement in the air, all of this can go south if we don’t continue to practice good common sense Covid 19 procedures. But, I’m only going to think good thoughts and anticipate that everything is going to be just fine and prepare myself to start living life as I somewhat new it prior to March 2020, and, I hope you do too.
