had to do this for the movie.” Casting Fran Kranz, Greene had found the right Jeremiah for the lead, staying true to the movie and her vision.
“Fanboy” is a perfect balance of humor and charm which makes you laugh out loud and cringe at the sweet innocence that Jeremiah embodies as he attempts to make it in Hollywood. His dream is to work with and star in a Sam Raimi film. This country boy from South Carolina has no idea what he’s in for and the awkwardness drives the film forward in high gear. Greene shared that the film really makes fun of Hollywood and the stereotypes, particularly agents, method acting classes, and even her own husband’s film “For Love of the Game.” This humor brilliantly connects each scene together, allowing this through-line of comedy to come full circle.
“Fanboy,” Green explained, “.... became my calling card for features." After using this successfully and directing her first comedic feature film, “Murder of a Cat” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2014, Greene decided to release “Fanboy” for everyone to enjoy. She laughed, “I had to watch it [again] and thought, ‘Damn! This is good!’" I completely agree!
Greene is also currently working on another project as director, “The Caterpillar” which depicts a young boy who’s mother dies and he will not take off the Halloween costume she made for him. Greene assured me, “This script has a lot of humor in it, too. It sounds really dark, but it’s ultimately about hope and transformation.” Greene has several films in pre-production, but you can see “Fanboy” beginning March 22nd on Amazon.
