iverse voices are beginning to be heard in all aspects of our world, but Hollywood appears to be ground zero for the awakening. #MeToo and #TimesUp opened eyes and doors for women particularly to create openings in the director’s seats, but we still have a long way to go. One woman, Gillian Greene, who’s very DNA seems to be a part of the filmmaking world is stretching her wings and honing her skills as a director with the release of her short film “Fanboy” starring Fran Kranz and J.K. Simmons, available on Amazon on March 22.
The vivacious mother of five who’s married to the renowned director Sam Raimi (“Spider-Man”) and is the daughter of the beloved actor Lorne Greene (“Bonanza”), may have the connections in Hollywood, but it is her passion, talent, and ability to integrate levity and drama that allows her to stand on her own two feet. I recently spoke with Greene about her life, “Fanboy,” and what’s next on her plate.
