March is national women’s history month and we’re celebrating women in a big way. It’s great to see women finally getting the praise and recognition they deserve, because of their bravery, courageousness and overall impact that they’ve having around the world.
Beauty continues to be a controversial topic of discussion on many levels. Often, our definition of beauty is strictly what we see in one’s outward appearance. For decades a beautiful person was considered to be the super model that we saw on the cover of glamorous magazines. I think that we’ve certainly evolved over the last several years and recognize that beauty comes in many different shapes, colors, and forms, but we still have a lot of work to do. We are starting to see the beauty in other things that are transpiring around the world, such as movements that will spark change, selfless people risking their lives to save others, and the utilization of social media to help those in need.
This month FLM highlights different aspects of women and beauty related to history, courageousness, identity and those that were pioneers in their respective fields. We delve into how beauty affects our lives today both negatively and positively and as always, provide tips on how to become a better you by enhancing your beauty on the outside and inside. Our resident film critic gives you the scoop on the best movies being shown at the SXSW Film Festival and shares her interviews from some of the industry’s top actors and producers.
