were resistant, but after trying the clothes on they actually felt pretty good,” he added.

Sartoria Marconi takes things that are more fashion oriented and boils them down to very easy functions. They wanted to create a line that people could play with. Like pulling off a look that could be more risqué, or paired with jeans, khakis or chinos, where the blazer is the main performer. Paco notes more and more people want a look that they can wear for business throughout the day and then head out for drinks at night. “Having that flexibility to look cool after work and not feel like you’re stuffed in a penguin suit is what we’re about,” he reiterated.

Paco doesn’t like some of the extreme fashion forward trends that are going on, specifically the short waist blazers that tend to shorten a man’s trunk. He foresees that some of these trends are only in for one season and will not transfer to the next. He points out that traditional cuts like the double breasted blazer are making a comeback and being adopted by younger generations as well. He believes that we may start seeing more functional features attached to classic styles, think a Nike gym shoe sole on an Oxford shoe.

All Sartoria Marconi designs are truly made in Italy. Regulations have allowed companies to utilize the “Made in Italy” label very loosely, even though clothing often are only finished there. Giuliani’s company sources every fabric from Italian mills and the crafting is done in Tuscany by a small family owned shop that has been in business for many generations. “The kind of ‘Made in Italy’ that we do is 100% Italian,” boasted Giuliani. The virgin wool fabrics used are sometimes blended with silk, cashmere, or polyester. In the short term, Sartoria Marconi is doing some grassroots awareness by hosting trunk sales and trunk shows. The company has designed custom blazers for an Italian NBA player in Denver and hopes that the relationship will bring more exposure to the brand. There have been many women that love their pieces and so they foresee the brand expanding to include women down the road. Expect to see and hear more about Sartoria Marconi Bononia blazers as they take their grassroots approach to the next level.
