ook! Honey, we are

landing somewhere

out of nowhere!!”

We are often asked about the most impressive spot that we travelled in the world. The question came to mind when we were landing in Tasmania. I was shocked and surprised, because it truly felt like landing in a purely wild nature with no other humans in sight.

Tasmania is located 240 km to the south of the Australian mainland and has a population of about 541,000 people. . The shape of the main island that makes up Tasmania looks like a “heart” and is surrounded by the 1000 islands which together make up this 68,401 km2 island state.

We spent two weeks travelling around this extraordinary natural island. We visited some small islands by boat, all of which are hugely diverse and offer a wide range of habitats to birds and mammals.

hugely diverse and offer a wide range of habitats to birds and mammals. We saw hundreds of sea lions sunbathing and teasing each other; we saw a natural waterfall falling like a crystal curtain; and we were also impressed by the dramatic coastal scenery. We visited different caves in Mayberry and felt like we were in mother nature’s planetarium as the walls in the caves are lit up by Australia’s largest colony of glowworms. We were dazzled by sparkling crystals, reflection pools, and stalactites and stalagmites while walking, wading and sometimes squeezing through some tight crevices. Even today, I still remember the music of underground streams and the moment when I soaked up the silence of abandoned river passages.
