Many people will be familiar with the Mondavi name. What would your grandfather think about what you’re doing now?
I think my grandfather would be very proud. You're gonna make me cry. I wasn't expecting that question. My grandfather, Peter Mondavi, Sr., he passed away at 101 and I was lucky enough to have him in my life until I was 34 years old. He just told me doing what you're doing, you're on the right path. You know, it's funny. He really didn't like the grandkids that much but as we got older, our relationship shifted to more of an adult conversation. When you put it all into perspective, he really made me who I am. One of the beauties behind it that I really took away from him was, he was a purist so for me to be able to have 100% pure zinfandel, 100% pure merlot and then also our petite syrah block here at Harrow Cellars, I think is really kind of cool. Again, focusing on that legacy and what he taught me pays homage to him.
