I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO: I have never been so profoundly effected by a documentary than I was by James Baldwin’s portrayal in this documentary. Brought to life by the skillful direction of Raoul Peck, Baldwin’s situations, foresight, and eloquence shine a bright light on the concept and acts of racism throughout our country. The video footage brings us back to an era as it picks the threads apart to more carefully analyze how Blacks have been oppressed throughout history and its relevance today. Unfortunately, as the film relays, the mid ’60’s don’t look that much different than 2020.
