The next day started with a beautiful morning walk that included 8 mini sprints concluding with a band workout poolside (Steph traveled with 8 bands to share with all) including rounds of squats, fire hydrants and pelvic lifts directed from a friend’s workout app. Post workout, Pamsicle served us Pina Coladas in mini plastic coconut theme drink containers with delicious breakfast pastries from the beloved Porto’s Bakery. We savored the warm heat and bright blue skies all morning. I put a festive blue acrylic pineapple cup in each gift bag with a note inside welcoming the huzzies to PS and to join me at 12noon with these party ready cups ($3 at Walmart) for a Spicy Mango Margarita to enjoy with my 7-layer dip appetizer. All day we connected, caught up, got our tan on and relished in the opportunity to just do “me” for a few days away.

We ventured out for sushi Saturday night dressed to the nines, then returned back to the house to chill. My favorite part of the weekend was being able to sit still without any pressure or hearing “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy…” every five minutes. I was able to just sit and listen to the palm trees move in the light breeze and savor the serenity of the peaceful moment.

Although Palm Springs may not be 90 minutes away from your home, the takeaway is wherever you live, make the time to get away with friends to push the reset button. Because if your own mind, body and spirit are not in check, how can you be present in other areas of your life?

A getaway can be a staycation in your own city via great rates on hotel apps (I love HotelTonight or Booking.com) or home rental sites (Love VRBO.com). Being the ring leader is a fun job if you know how to manage a crew of friends with different schedules. It also helps to have one person responsible who can lead the charge with decisions for a group, most of whom need to just know “How much do I need to Zelle? I am so excited to getaway!”

You know you’ve planned a “great trip” when your custom hashtag is represented on IG and friends send you DMs with extreme FOMO, and lastly when everyone is sad to leave. But while writing this article, I am actually grinning from ear to ear thinking about next year’s Palm Springs trip Spring 2020.
