y annual “Huzzies Palm Springs Getaway” is an event I look forward to organizing every Spring. It’s a way for my girlfriends to leave the kids, work, stress behind and frolic in the desert over three days. PS is also a convenient 90-minute drive from Los Angeles making it doable for most.
This year marked my 5th “Huzzies Palm Springs” trip and I was clear to have no itinerary; just get here and let’s pop some bottles, soak up the sun and get off the cell phones except for selfies with our hashtag #huzziesinps2019. To create a festive commute to the desert, I sent a Spotify playlist to everyone a few days before to build up the momentum for out getaway weekend.
Once I found our amazing modernist rental, the only requirements I put in place were as follows: bring 2 bottles of wine you love to share with the group, create one poolside appetizer and signature cocktail to enjoy it with. It may sound like “a lot” but when you are able to “create” something delicious, not simple kid menus daily, and complement it with a refreshing cocktail, you feel inspired. I start to collect magazines in January for must-have poolside reading and put together favorite things to share in my welcome gift bag. I make sure when huzzies arrive, they feel like they are greeted with a big hug since everything is catered to them all weekend.
