On day two was the much-anticipated Royal Street Stroll where block after block was cordoned off for participants to casually savor the local delicacies and beverages. This too was not just an event, but a celebration complete with parades representing “krewes” typically seen at Mardi Gras and bands inviting you to dance in the street. Local restaurants served tastings of their signature meals (of course there was crawfish) and wine and alcohol freely poured as the strolling party became a raucous rolling one. Each tent was spaced methodically, allowing you to sip your libation while the
aroma of food drew you to the next
stop. Of course, there were necklaces
and beads placed around your neck,
some more coveted than others,
allowing adults to feel like a kid
grabbing candy along the parade
route.
On day three, the party continued with
hundreds of tastings of wines,
cocktails, and unique culinary creations
at the Grand Tasting---and grand it
was! The aromas wafting through the
air as you entered the elaborately decorated space made your mouth water and your knees go weak.
