Prepare to be inspired! June is travel month; not too late to plan for summer fun while the kids are out of school and just in time to plan early for fall and winter trips. When was the last time you took a major trip abroad? For some, and sadly it’s many of us from the US with our 2 week paid vacations, we simply never seem to find the time or budget to take the travel plunge. We dream about far away lands and covet other people’s exotic photos on Facebook. Certainly there are obvious barriers to travel - can’t afford it, don’t have the time off, no one to go with. But now there’s even scarier things like Zika, protests, and terrorist threats. Travel seems to have become more affordable, but also more dangerous. Or so it seems.
This issue addresses many of the fears you may face, as well as the excuses we all make. Some legitimate, but many lack merit to prevent us from truly experiencing all this wonderful world has to offer. It is by traveling that we grow into culturally aware individuals. Seeing poverty, while admittedly unpleasant, does in fact make us appreciate our own lot in life. Witnessing the majesty of natural and manmade wonders of the world reminds us how small we are, allowing us to experience a sense of awe at creation and innovation.
What June’s issue does most of all is wet your appetite for travel. From how to safely plan your next trip, to different modes of travel, and even staying healthy, beautiful and “in love” on your trips, our contributors offer a glimpse of how they’ve managed to get on the road and enjoy being there.
If I could offer you only one piece of advice, don’t just plan or dream. Pick a city, book a flight and then let the rest fall into place. We at Fete Lifestyle Magazine hope that one of these articles will resonate with you enough to support you saying YES to planning your trip of a lifetime. No excuses, no unrealistic fears … just photos and memories to share.
