Spas Around the World
Hotel Costes Clarins Spa Paris, France
I worked in Paris for one month last summer with the San Francisco Ballet and two months in the winter for the off-Broadway opening of An American in Paris. Living in Paris was a dream come true. My own personal sanctuary was the Clarins Spa. It’s one of the few spas in Paris where you can find a great deep tissue massage. Located beneath the glamorous Hotel Costes, this luxurious spa is lit by candles and decorated in blue mosaic tiles. I love laying in the rounded mosaic steam room and by the pool in one of the cabanas. I spent hours letting my body rest and recuperate in Paris at the Hotel Costes. The Clarins Spa always makes me feel glamorous, calm, and rejuvenated. It’s a spa experience that I will never forget.
Huntington Hotel Spa, San Francisco, California
With floor to ceiling windows and stunning views, Huntington Hotel Spa sits high above San Francisco on Nob Hill. I love swimming in the infinity pool and sitting in the hot tub to relax my body before my massage. After an incredible massage, I like to lay down in the nap room or sit outside on the terrace and appreciate the breathtaking views of the city. After a steam and a long sit in the sauna, I always leave happy and rested.
Blue Lagoon, Iceland
San Francisco Ballet toured to Iceland a few years ago to perform in Reykjavik. It is one of the most beautiful and unique places that I have ever been. One of the highlights of our tour was visiting the Blue Lagoon. Named one of the wonders of the world, this place really is as magical as it sounds. The milky blue hot springs are surrounded by a valley of black lava rocks. The hot springs have healing qualities and help your body detox while you soak and relax. It’s worth a trip to Iceland just to soak in the pools at the Blue Lagoon. It is great for your body, not to mention exquisitely beautiful.
Gorgeous Beaches
Costanoa, California
My husband proposed to me on the bluff at the beach at Costanoa three years ago. Located between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz on the California coast, Costanoa has a locally known campground along with a rustic elegant hotel where you can enjoy nature at it’s finest. There’s a walking trail that takes you down to the beach where you can enjoy the almighty sand dunes that stand above the coastline. There are magnificent views from the bluffs overlooking the beautiful coastline where you can see every kind of wildlife from fish to birds. Certain times of the year you can spot whales off the coast. It is a spectacular part of the California coast that I love visiting.
Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, California
Emerald Bay earned its title because of its crystal clear blue and green water. Emerald Bay has a beautiful island with a magical tea house built out of stone that is surrounded by green forests, mountain ranges and blue sky’s. I grew up hiking here and dreamed of someday getting married there. That dream came true. My Husband and I were married on a yacht in the heart of Emerald Bay. The beauty that surrounded us was truly magical and will remain a magical memory for the rest of my life; my own fairy tale.
