During a recent trip to Birmingham Alabama, you were able to checkout America’s oldest ballpark, home to the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues. Who were some of the players that had a major influence on you as a kid playing the game?
The Negro Leagues had a tremendous influence on me as a kid. It’s the reason I wore my socks high when I played. I saw how cool all those players looked and thought to myself, hopefully one day I can look like that! So, when I was on a team that had uniforms that fit me and had socks that actually stayed up, I wore it that way whenever I could. There were times I had to use tape to help keep my socks up while playing.
