Art is revolution. The beauty of an assignment is the opportunity to collaborate and create different energies. Results. Process is rebellion. Process discipline. Process is where my comfort lies. Last week we show up at 167 N. Green Street, a beautiful West Loop building, to photograph Kofi Hughes, Resident Trainer. He will lead an energy circuit for his team. Today, two local musician artists he’s hell bent on keeping fit. Holt @hxltmusic and Vic Mensa @vicmensa. Fit bodies are a strong background. Motivated team, ready to create.
DC and I have decided that our current photo style is an applied hermetic process which encourages our subject to unfold, transform and become their next selves. Hard physical work is a pathway to higher spirit. Ropes. Bikes. Weights. As above so below. The gym as a temple. Worship. Spirit. Competition. Captured. Inspired. A slice of movement and life. Digitized. Saved. We play with the best photos having friends, family, and community as background. Life team, present.
Kofi is a poet, free and of the system. Ironically, a system maker. A rebel. Free to flow. Licensed to blow. Desire to know. On our shoot I heard Kofi say something like, if you got a heartbeat, I can train you. After watching him train I get why he is excellent. He trains himself while training you. He connects to a higher power. Again, as above so below. I like Kofi’s style of leadership. I expect of myself the same that I ask of you. Let’s do this together. Life is a Fete. Enjoy Kofi!
