When Trying to Be “Yoga Woke”

become an
expert, you need a minimum of 10,000 hours or 10 years of study and application on a topic. Racism is not a superficial topic. Unpacking racism, white privilege and U.S. history, plus steps to take to help the cause can’t be taught in an hour.
But that’s the email invite I recently received from an online yoga community . . .
An email that only addressed white people and only invited white people to a conversation around racism. BIPOC’s (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) in the 1,000+ person community were not invited to attend. The email specifically addressed ONLY white people.
