hen two women are connected by a shared culture and vision and they decidedly come together to create and beautiful thing happens.

That’s precisely what happened when Luz Canino-Baker, President and Founder of Latinas On The Plaza, approached Brissa Del Mar, CEO of Breeze Art Creatives to do a photo shoot during her 10-Week Boot Camp called FUERTE (STRONG). She knew that Brissa’s style of photography was unique and that she could capture the essence of people in her photographs. Luz wanted to increase her Professional Presence Class to include a picture of how each young woman of color sees herself, which occurs week 6 during the 10-week program. Brissa wanted to do something beyond just a photoshoot and desired to tell the FUERTE story through her photography. This would be accomplished by reflecting each young woman’s diversity, vision and growth.

The process began by hiring Danny Rosario, a 16 - year old makeup artist, honing his craft, and Maria Claudia Perozo, another young makeup artist. These two individuals generously gave their time on an early Saturday morning and brought each woman’s beauty to light.

Before the photo shoot, the participating women were asked 3 questions that would help to portray her uniqueness. All were featured individually with answers to 3 key questions:

- What were your three “Aha” moments during the FUERTE Program?

- What is the message you are telling your future self?

- What is the message you want to give to another young woman

of color today?
