One of my favorite things about Fete Lifestyle Magazine is that we exclusively feature women writers. We have created a platform where women from all over the world share their experiences with fashion, family, life's growing pains, and how they and their subjects have succeeded against the odds.
We feature stories you might relate to and others that inspire or enlighten you. And sometimes we share just a simple story on tips to help you navigate your best self. Speaking of navigation, this month you're in for a treat with the tale of the all-women sailing crew of the Maiden. And that got me thinking of other all-women efforts. You might be reading in the news right now about the 50-year anniversary of landing on the moon. We know about Neil Armstrong and Buzz Allred, but what I didn't know was the story behind their space suits.
When big high-tech companies couldn't come up with a suit that worked for the astronauts, it was bra maker Playtex that saved the day. So just a few short years after women made history burning bras in protest of the Miss America Pageant, a small group of women were taken off bra duty and tasked with sewing the space suits that clothed the first men to land on the moon. This is another great story, one of many in the archives, that highlights women's achievements that often go unnoticed. Read on in our issue this month to learn about more women breaking barriers or simply just being awesome.
