How CrossFit (surprisingly) Became My Favorite Workout
By Kristen Russell
very summer I tell myself I am going to get fit and go to the gym more and usually I give up on that goal pretty quickly, but this summer has been different. This is the summer I tried CrossFit. Now I know you’re probably rolling your eyes and thinking “ugh another person talking about how CrossFit is a game changer or how it’s the best thing ever and will make you lose weight without work.”
That’s not what I’m here to say. For those who aren’t familiar with CrossFit, it consists of a strength and weightlifting portion and a conditioning and cardio portion (oftentimes mixed together). They are pretty short workouts with each section only being around 15 minutes, but each minute is challenging. It is designed to build strength and endurance, while improving flexibility and weightlifting form. CrossFit is challenging both mentally and physically and it is not pretty. It consists of a lot of sweat, ripped hands, and extremely tired muscles, but it has been such an incredible experience thus far and I just want to share why I love it so much.
