You can increase your level of awareness by asking yourself a couple of questions.

1.) How do I feel right now?

2.) Am I slipping into comparison?

3.) What are my thoughts as I browse?

4.) Am I experiencing any longing?

Take a moment to notice what is going on with you. If you start to feel anxious, sad, angry or even jealous, it would be a good time to take a little break. Take inventory of what you value about your life and relationships. Call to mind some of your individual strengths and spend a few moments feeling gratitude for the life you have created. If this is difficult, a therapist is always a great resource to help you create a life you love and are proud to call your own. We should be able to use social media & technology to enhance our lives and if it is not doing this, then something’s gotta give. This practice guarantees that technology works for you and that your mood and self image are not victims of mindless browsing.
