How Tech Advancements
Changed My Life

Technology-be careful what you wish for...
When I started in the radio business in 1981, we were still using 45’s at our radio station. We were actually spinning records. Vinyl. One of my favorite things to do was explore album covers front and back and sometimes the sleeve. It gave me a visual with my music. It was just another artistic part of the music industry. Take a look at the Eagles “Hotel California” album cover. One of the most iconic covers ever made. Some people still think vinyl has the best sound quality. It’s pure and you don’t lose anything in the track. You have more dimensions with it. But as a Disc Jockey you ran into problems with vinyl records. Playing them over and over you develop what we called a “cue burn” the crackling sound at the beginning of a record. So, we learned to “slip cue” and start the record past the burn. It’s all we could do until the invention of the Fidelipac. We needed better technology!
